For over 3 years I’ve been following the case of Demetrius Kern after he was arrested by Cleveland Heights, Ohio police officers for not producing his ID. Mr. Kern had been falsely arrested and charged after he was almost hit by a police cruiser driven by Officer Carly Lewis, whose video deposition was featured back in January of this year. That arrest was made primarily at the direction of Officer Lewis’s supervisor, Sgt. Naftali Wolf, whose video deposition was featured in February of this year. At the end of that video, I mentioned that the civil lawsuit against them was still pending, and that the parties were waiting on the judge to rule on the officers’ request for qualified immunity. Well, that has now happened. The judge has ruled, and I have once again interviewed Mr. Kern’s civil rights lawyer, my friend Chris Wiest, about what just happened, and what happens next.

Looks like we have the answers about why Apple’s folding phones are snapping their screens.
iFixIt finally dropped their teardown review of the Duo, and it’s shocking just how positive it is. They regard it as the most repairable foldable smartphone on the market given how easy it is to access many of the components and how little glue is holding things down compared to Google & Samsung’s phones do it.
But they also got deep into the hinge and they suspect that it’s the center bar area that’s causing unnecessary strain when folding that could be the reason why all the cracking Duos are popping up on day 1.
It’s likely that this is a manufacturing defect since so many users aren’t having this particular problem and the folks who are, are describing similar failing situations with crunching noises and similar death lines.

The tech world is in a panic after Microsoft announced buyout offers for 60,000 employees -- 25% of its workforce. It’s to make room in the budget for risky AI gambles which many fear won’t pay off.

A 3-year-old was playing youth soccer in Florida. He was so good that other parents complained — and police were called to the field.
According to his family, the toddler was dribbling past 5-year-olds, controlling the ball, and scoring. Some parents said he held the ball too long. After his mother confronted a group of adults, an argument broke out and officers arrived. The family says he was removed from the league and their registration fee was refunded.
A child should be free to play without being treated like a threat.
