A federal hearing scheduled for Wednesday in Birmingham over the Southeastern Conference's lawsuit against LSU has been postponed.

A notice posted on the courtroom door said the hearing in the case has been continued and that the court will set a new date in a separate order.

The hearing was expected to address the SEC's request for a temporary restraining order against LSU ahead of a private conference meeting Thursday.

The SEC had asked the federal court to prevent LSU from blocking or interfering with that meeting, where leaders from the conference's other 15 universities are expected to consider whether to terminate LSU's membership.

The SEC sued LSU, football coach Lane Kiffin and other university officials last week, accusing the school of violating conference rules by attempting to add former professional football players to its roster.

The hearing's new date has not been announced.
